CSSA fights for infrastructure and policy changes to make our streets work better outside a car and safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.
We’ve helped to get protected bike lanes on Pike and Pine streets, spur action to speed up Metro’s chronically late 8 bus, and bring about the repeal of King County’s punitive bike helmet law, among many other achievements.
To achieve tangible changes on our streets, we:
- raise awareness of safety issues and active transportation needs
- conduct community outreach
- lobby political leaders and local government
- advise on design and implementation of safety upgrades
- and make sure the promises our local leaders make match the project they deliver
Additionally, we are involved in a few annual events such as tabling for Bike Everywhere Day
